Morné Smit: From the Rugby Field to Sales Leadership
Morné Smit doesn’t just talk about resilience—he’s lived it. A former national-level rugby
player, Morné learned early on how discipline, teamwork, and focus can drive success
under pressure. “Rugby teaches me a lot,” he says. “It’s not about the individual player.
It’s about the team, and everyone doing their job to win together.”

That mindset shaped a career that’s taken him across 60 industries and four continents.
Along the way, he’s seen the struggles sales teams face: overworked, under-supported,
lacking direction, and struggling to scale . He’s also seen their potential. “Salespeople
are some of the toughest, grittiest people out there,” Morné says. “But even the best
need the right systems and coaching to unlock their full potential.

To help them do just that, Morné built Emerse Group, a company dedicated to unlocking
sales potential through proven systems and actionable strategies. Under his leadership
as CEO, Emerse Group was named Best Sales Training & Development Company
(2025) in the U.S. by the Business Excellence Awards, hosted by Acquisition
International.

Morné’s results speak for themselves. He helped take one company from $18M to
$180M in under five years—without a dollar of external funding. “That wasn’t luck,” he
says. “It was about finding the gaps, building the right systems, and giving people the
tools to succeed.” By combining systems, discipline, and encouragement, Morné
doesn’t just help teams hit their numbers—he transforms how they think about sales.

Through his work, Morné caught the attention of legendary sales guru Jack Daly, who
entrusted Morné with carrying forward his life’s work. As Jack’s sole partner for his
renowned sales growth tactics, Morné continues to inspire and empower sales
professionals around the globe.

He was named Transformational CEO of the Year (Sales Industry) by the Global
Excellence Awards and honored by Marquis Who’s Who for his leadership and impact. In 2025, he earned the Top New Speaker award from Vistage and was a top-rated
